He landed his first Television soapie breakout role in 1998 when he was cast in Isindingo as Derek Nyathi. The actor held that role for three years when his character was written off. He landed the title character as Jacob Makhubu in Jacob’s cross. This role is the role that subsequently made him a household name. He got a role in Rockville and Scandal between the years 2016 and 2019. He is currently holding Zweli in The River, where he is Lindiwe, played by Sindi Dlathu’s husband.
Besides his roles in the soapville, he also has a hand in Filmography. He has been cast in a lot of local and international movies. In 2005 he was cast in Lord of war alongside international star Nicholas Cage. He also landed a role in Snipper Reloaded, Winnie, Honeymoon Hotel, Madiba and Happiness is a four-letter word, to mention a few.

His grind spread out to reality Television when he was a presenter on Channel O from 1995 to 1998. He hosted the famous dating show All you need were love in 2000. Hlomla was also a model when he was younger. He shared the catwalk with famous actress Zandisile Nhlapo at some point.
HLomla also takes part behind the scenes of some of the shows that we love so much. He has directed several episodes of Generations, Backstage and Gaz’lam. The actor directed the film, The Bet in 2006 for the Heartlines movie series. He won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a leading role.
