Actress Fikile ‘Phindile Gwala’ fired from Imbewu: The Seed
It seems as if it never pours but rains for South African actress Phindile Gwala who stars as Fikile on Imbewu: The Seed. Despite currently being the face of the drama series on the current storyline, the seasoned actress is said to have been shown the exit door.
What could have happened? Her rumoured axing comes a few hours after Menzi dumped the drama series in the eleventh hour.
What’s happening in the Durban based drama series? Insider sources have it that:
“Phindile’s on-screen character was being struck off because of her craft competence. The producers have it that her talent is not what the showrunners expected out of her. However, it was revealed that the new producers were not very impressed, so they did not want to keep her.”
The seasoned actress made all sorts of headlines when she bagged her gig on Muvhango. The seasoned actress thrust into the limelight was her gig on Muvhango, where she played as receptionist Nonny.
However, in the wake of her axing, contacted for comment, the actress didn’t respond to the rumour but did indicate a detailed report will be given.

Speaking to the media, Imbewu: The Seed spokesperson Thapelo Ramatsui confirmed that the two actors would exit the soapie but said it would be for a short time.
“They are on a hiatus from the show … They want to explore other avenues, such as other work opportunities. Durban is quite a stretch, so if they want to pursue other interests in Johannesburg, we give them leeway to pursue other projects and possibly come back. We did not fire anyone,” Ramatsui said.
However, it seems as if there is a mass exodus in the drama series. It has been confirmed that Muzi Mthabela has parted ways with the Durban based drama series.
The seasoned actor dumped the drama series because of his on-screen character that took a toll on his private life. In the mix of things, it has been established that the seasoned actor has already left the drama series on mutual agreement.
In the wake of his exit Phindile Gwala who plays the on-screen character of Fikile, is leaving the show too. However, the reasons behind her exit are still not confirmed yet, but rumour has it that she had a fallout with showrunners.
