Mbalenhle Mavimbela, best known for being Skeem Saam’s Nothile, has landed a role in The Wife. Mbali, as she is affectionately known, is going to star in the series as Hlomu.
Mbali’s character as Hlomu
Mahlomu (Hlomu) is a woman who meets Mqhele and falls in love with him. Sometimes Mqhele’s character makes her uncomfortable, but she is happy. Their love is solid, and they stand by each other through thick and thin. Her husband will be one of the eight Zulu brothers with a dark past. Their late father was a mob boss who was very rich and powerful. The story will walk through how Hlomu will use her love for this man to accept his family as her own and secure her place as a respected figure in the Zulu household.
What Mbali has to say about Hlomu
The actress, who is pretty a fresh face in the industry, says that when she heard that Hlomu the wife would be turned into a series, she jumped on the opportunity and auditioned. Some time back, she made a Tik Tok video pretending to be Hlomu, the wife, not knowing that she would land the role. The actress has kept the secret that she got the part from her fans for months. She could not even drop a hint as the book series fans kept giving ideas of who should be cast on the show. She will play her role with Bonko Khoza as Mqhele, and it is rumoured that their chemistry on-set is electric.
