Uzalo actress Gabisile’s daughter Yolisa acted on Isithembiso by accident
Baby Cele plays the role of Gabisile Khumalo on Uzalo; she is the mother of actress Yolisa Cele who played the role of Mpumi on Mzansi Magic telenovela Isithembiso.
Isithembiso was cancelled in 2020 due to failure to harness sufficient viewership, despite airing up to season 3. The head of local entertainment channels at Mzansi Magic, Philly Kubheka, confirmed, “The show will not be renewed for season 4.
On Isithembiso, Yoilsa Cele played the role of a 14-year-old Zamani’s sister, a role she revealed was accidental and wasn’t according to the plan.
The young actress was doing commercials before landing the Isithembiso acting role. She had taken a sabbatical off screens till her agent called in for Isithembiso auditions.
“I decided to stop acting for two years to focus on my studies. But my agent phoned me about this show, Isithembiso. I went for auditions, and I was really nervous, and I was shocked when I got the part.”
Yoilsa revealed that she bumped into acting by mistake; fashion designing is the first love she wishes to pursue.
Like mother like daughter? Maybe not, Yolisa appreciates her mother’s talent, but she wishes to walk her own journey.
‘I am not 100% into acting, but I want to pursue both fashion designing and acting when I finish matric. Being the daughter to Baby Cele comes with a lot of expectations, but I don’t wish to fill her shoes; I have my own to put on and walk my journey.’
Despite being a novice, Yolisa is racking in cash; recently, she scored a deal with Savanna Cider; we toast to more business and advertising deals to come.
Signs of Yolisa coming back on our screens are getting real day by day; currently, she is doing small voice over skits and posting them on her Instagram page. Imagine her landing a role on Uzalo, appearing along with her mother, Gabisile.
