Of late the Mzansi entertainment industry has become a global phenomenon be its drama series, musical acts and films it has managed to make a mark in the global sphere. Well back home the battle of viewers has always been the main concern of showrunners of drama series and they invest a lot to make up to it. Well, some big money moves go south whilst some pays.
However, The Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa has put to rest the debate of the most followed shows Mzansi after it released its latest viewership polls.
Despite being criticised for a boring storyline and poor acting Uzalo has returned its number one spot. The SABC1 drama series boasts around with more than 8 Million views as of March.
The show has been marred with salaries woes of late but it has managed to stay relevant. No doubt the show is poised for a positive gain after its old aces returned to show. The returning actors and new faces like Mkhize are set to turn up the heat of the show.
Generations: The Legacy is the second most-watched soapie in Mzansi. The SABC1 drama series has a flagship of 6.4 million viewers. However, the show is running on the negative as it lost more viewers after hitting 7 million viewership earlier.

No doubt Skeem Saam made all sorts of headlines when dethroned Uzalo a few months ago after hitting more than 9 million viewers. Well, it seems as if the showrunners are having trouble in maintaining their show above the float. The show has 4.8 million viewers followed by Xhosa News sitting at 3.8 million viewers. We can all agree that Noxolo Grootboom is privy to the spike of the viewership flag.
Meanwhile as of SABC2 Muvhango remains the most-watched drama series with at least 4 million viewers. The show made all sorts of headlines back then last year when it was threatened with cancellation after a drop in views. No doubt the show seems as if it got its plug back.
Muvhango bolstered its cast with seasoned influencers and the gamble seems to be paying off. In the wake of a shocking exit of Buhle Samuels, the showrunners bolstered the cast with Tebogo Thobejane who happens to be one of the most followed star actresses on the show of late.
On the other hand, troubled 7de Laan is sitting on more than one million viewers. However, a poll survey was only conducted for drama series that are aired on SABC channels.
