Another enormous snake killed at Mvuma Hospital
Another enormous cobra snake was seen and killed at Mvuma Hospital. On Sunday afternoon workers at the hospital saw a venomous cobra and killed it. Few weeks back a big snake was found in the kitchen at the same premises.
Mvuma District Medical Officer Dr Simbarashe Maunga confirms the incident to the Mirror but denies claims that the snake was inside the buildings.
“Yes it is true that a snake was seen and killed here at the hospital. However, it is not true that it was in the hospital buildings. Someone must have killed the snake and then taken pictures of it from one of the corridors,” reports Dr Maunga.
Other sources say that the snake was seen close to the female ward. Patients and Health workers had to hurry to safety. It is reported that a male worker at the hospital aimed the reptile perfectly and struck it once on the head thereby killing right away.

The Zimbabwe National Parks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo informs that snakes are rarely found in clean and clear environments.
“No snakes will creep into a clean and clear environment. We urge members of the public to keep their surroundings clean by practicing good waste management and cutting grass around their environs.”
“You will not find snakes where there are no hideouts. It is also advisable to use snake repellents or to use indigenous remedies to keep reptiles away from institutions and homes,” he said.
People still think these snakes being seen at the hospital is a spiritual sign or someone’s dark magic. In Chipinge two weeks backs students and teachers were fainting continuously and seeing snakes in classrooms. This was linked to Satanism and it involved Traditional healers and Community elders. Maybe it is time Mvuma Hospital workers consult their community elders.
