Skeem Saam’s Nicholas Nkuna Rubbishes Claims Of Him Being Nigerian
No doubt Nigeria has produced Africa’s finest when it comes to the entertainment industry. When one talks about the best international acts it’s unfair to exclude Nigeria on the equation. Of late many celebrated on-screen characters and musicians have always tried to tie themselves to Nigeria.
However, that’s not the case with Skeem Saam and 7de Laan actor, Nicholas Nkuna who boldly denied claims that he is Nigerian. “I am not Nigerian,” he says.
Sipho Nicholas Nkuna is a South African actor and singer. He is best known for his roles in the popular series 7de Laan as Fikani and on Erfsondes as Nkululeko “Freedom” Nkosi. The 32-year-old actor currently plays Sakhile on Skeem Saam. Despite all these rumours, Nkuna has managed to clear the air very well.
Skeem Saam’s Nicholas Nkuna Rubbishes Claims Of Him Being Nigerian
He has been apparently rumoured to be a Nigerian. The actor has stated that even though he’s not ashamed of being mistaken for a Nigerian, he thought he should come out and state his real nationality.
“I am African and I come from great ancestors, women, and men of every shape and color. I honestly laugh off talks that I am Nigerian. People need to be educated about who they are so they don’t get arrogant, which led to xenophobia. I think they must recheck their history as we can’t afford to be ignorant. We have seen lives being lost to xenophobia attacks. Again, we can’t afford to be ignorant. We can’t have our brothers and sisters being treated as less human because they look different to us. This is why being mistaken for a Nigerian doesn’t offend me.”
However, with 7de Laan woes continuing, rumour has it that Nkuba might return to Skeem Saam. Nkuba will be returning to Skeem Saam to assume his role of Sakhile, a professor at the university.
