Abram Ngcobo hails from the small town of Hammanskraal in the Gauteng province of, South Africa. His football journey journey started off in the early days of primary school. It however changed course in Grade 5, when he ditched his proper back position to be a goalkeeper after his team’s goalkeeper failed to show up for a game. Subsequently, he was enrolled at the Brazilians Soccer Academy where he was groomed into a professional goalkeeper.

Abram Ngcobo started playing football at a young age back in primary school. His soccer ambition changed course in grade 5 when he dropped his proper back position to be a goalkeeper after their goalkeeper failed to show up for a match. From that moment onwards, his coach encouraged him to be a goalkeeper, because he was impressed by his performance on that particular day. Later on, at age 16, he joined The Brazilians Soccer Academy and it wasn’t long before he started winning trophies. Abram Ngcobo was part of the team that clinched the MDC League title in 2017 and qualified for the Multi Choice International Challenge trophy held in Holland. Ultimately, they won, beating the Japanese side Ichifuna FC 1-0. He was signed to Mamelodi sundowns in 2016 and started training with Africa’s best goalkeepers the likes of Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene.
