New Year’s Eve party organisers DJ Fantan, Levels and Dammer granted Z$20,000 bail each by the High Court pending appeal against conviction and sentence. They were jailed for an effective 6 months each.
The Mbare based artists have succeeded in their freedom bid at the High Court having spent a few weeks locked in prison.
The three were arrested and sentenced for organising a New Year Crossover bash in Mbare, violating guidelines put by the government to reduce Covid-19 infections.

Following the crossover gig, Zimbabweans called on for the arrest of the organisers as they exposed the audience to Covid-19 which is currently causing havoc in the country.
The police responded by issuing a notice that they were looking for DJ Fantan. Fantan was arrested after he surrendered himself to Mbare police station. His arrest was followed by the arrest of Levels and music promoter Dammer.
