Mmarona Motshegoa was born on the 29th of September 1987 in Pretoria North, Soweto. She matriculated at The Hill High School where she won multiple awards and even became Head Girl and RCL President. These achievements led her to the entertainment industry where she continues to thrive.
Career
Mmarona used to be known as Minx in her Channel O days where presented in a number of their shows. These show include “The 411”, O News, Amplified, Oboma and Oboma Xpress. She also worked on Channel O Radio. Motshegoa’s first appearance on television was in “Rhythm City” where she played ‘Keke’, stylish lesbian journalist in 2009. In 2012 Mmarona Motshegoa landed a short recurring role as Paulina (aka Banshee) on SABC 1’s “Generations”. The role was controversial because Paulina was gothic and on the show her love interest’s family disapproved of her causing MJ Memela and Paulina to split.
Later on in 2014 Mmarona had a starring role on “Task Force” a drama series that aired on SABC 1. In the same year she starred in “Sticks and Stones” another drama series on the same channel. Motshegoa gained another recurring role this time on SABC 2’s “Muvhango”. Her first appearance as ‘Buhle’ was on the 4th of April 2018. Mmarona’s most prolific role was when she played ‘Tumi’ in “Zone 14” on SABC 1. Tumi was a young gold digger who was desperate to leave the township and live the suburban life.
In 2015 Mmarona was the host of “Rands with Sense” a financial literacy show which aired on SABC 2 from 16 Marche 2015. The show ran for 26 weeks and was an hour long.
She has even featured on film as ‘Little Kgomotso’s Mom’ in the film “Losing Lerato”. Mmarona Motshegoa plays ‘Naledi Kgakgudi’ in “Vutha” SABC 2’s new medical drama. She joins a star studded cast with the likes of Boikie Pholo, Dumisani Mbebe and Sipho Mbele.

Mmarona Motshegoa was known as Mmarona Kgwele when she was married to senior processing engineer Leslie Goitseone Kgwele. A relative has revealed that the couple filed for divorce his year and had been sleeping separately in the same house since 2018. Motshegoa has proposed to take full custody of the couple’s only child and it sees Leslie is in agreement
Philantropy
Mmarona founded “Itshepeng Youth Mentoring and Development” which aims to improve public school facilities in the townships. The organisation has professionals that are equipped with helping children acquire essential skills and foster a passion forlearning and life.
