Dumisani Mbebe’s date of birth is unavailable however we do know that he was born and raised in Transkei, Nqamakwe. Watching western films inspired Dumisani’s career choice. Mbebe attended Lukhanyiso Junior Secondary School and Ngconolo Secondary School respectively. He graduated with a B.A in English and Psychology in 1996 at Vista University, Port Elizabeth. Career
Mbebe has had a long and extensive career. The role that made him a household name is playing ‘Dumisani Shabani’ on “Generations” from 2008 to 2011 when his was fired for behavioural problems. Other shows that familiarised the world with Dumisani is SABC 1’s drama series Divers Down and Interrogation Room where he played leading roles. He has also had a starring role “Shooting Stars” a drama series on e.tv. The actor has had minor roles in feature films such as “Country Of My Skull” in 2004 and “Primeval” in 2007. In 2011 he played the role of ‘Malusi’, a boxing gym owner in the eleventh season of the drama series “Soul City” on SABC 1. He also starred in the Mzansi Magic telenovela “Inkaba” where he played the CEO of Kwezi Dezign, ‘Kwezi Mthetho’.
The actor is now set to play ‘Mzwakhe Masilela’ on SABC 2’s new medical drama “Vutha”. His character is the hospital CEO who is terrorised by a loan shark for outstanding debts. He stars alongside celebrated actors and actresses such as Leroy Gopal and Busi Lurayi.

Let’s begin with the reasons he was fired from Generations. It is alleged that Dumisani would miss shootings with no valid excuses. It is also alleged that Mbebe would arrive on set drunk with no changed behaviour. After a couple of verbal warnings he was killed of the soapie.
The actor has also been accused of sliding into other women’s DMs whilst he is married to his wife Mbali. This accusation came from a tweet from a user that quoted Dumisani’s tweet of him swimming with the words “Good to see you swimming in a pool instead of swimming into our DMs for a change”. No further comment or information was given from any of the parties involved.
Mbebe was also accused of sexual harassment by “Lithapo” actress Lorraine Moropa who alleges that her friend, who is also an actress, was harassed by Mbebe on set and that when the incidents were reported the producers of the show ‘swept it under the rug’. The actor has been vocal against sexual harassment therefore, he responded quickly to say he could not for sure deny he ever did the things reported as sexual harassment was and is still a term to be understood. He tweeted that now he knows better and also condemns the producers of the show for not addressing the report as it could have given him the opportunity to learn from his mistakes.
Last but not least Mbebe has tweeted that Lunga Shabalala, who plays ‘Lindani’ on popular South African soapie “The River”, doesn’t know how to act well and went on to say that industry big wigs cast inexperienced social media personalities because production get to pay them less than established actors. The actor spoke to Move! To clear up the mess by saying that the comment was nothing personal and that Lunga should learn and improve from this.
