Idols SA Season 16 Winner To Be Signed To Oskido’s Kalawa Jazmee
The winner of Season 16 of Idols SA will be signed to Kalawa Jazmee.
Idols SA took to social media on Monday 26 October 2020, to release a statement announcing the new partnership. Previous winners were signed by Gallo Records.
In the statement, Idols SA said the winner will have access to artists signed under Kalawa Jazmee owned by DJ Oskido as well as artists that have passed through or collaborated with the recording label. Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, Nomsa Philiso said the new partnership with Kalawa Jazmee will usher in a new era of entertainment and growth for Idols SA contestants.
Kalawa Jazmee was co-founded by DJ Oskido twenty-five years ago. The label is responsible for the success of artists such as Boom Shaka, Bongo Maffin, Trompies, Thebe, Mafikizolo, DJ Zinhle, and Vigro Deep who performed at Idols SA’s Sunday live show.
Oskido founded the label with Christos Katsaitis and Don Laka who left the label which was renamed from Kalawa to Kalawa Jazmee when the Tromphies came on board. A fun fact is that the word Kalawa comes from the first letters of Christos Katsaitis, Don Laka, and Oskido’s surnames. At the time the label was founded Oskido was going by the surname Warona.
The finale of Season 16 of Idols SA is expected to air in late November.
Idols SA Season 16 now has eight contestants left. Contestants who are still in the running for the converted first price are Bongi, Mr. Music, Zama, Brandon, Jooma, ZanoThando, Ndoni, and Ntokozo.
