Jerusalema singer Nomcebo in trouble over song with DJ Tira
Jerusalema singer Nomcebo Zikode is in trouble with her record label over a song she did with DJ Tira.
Her label, Open Mic Productions says she did not seek permission to record a song with Afrotainment producer DJ Tira.
Sowetan reports that Nomcebo’s label has said it has sent a legal letter to DJ Tira asking him to take down the song.
The song Nguwe which features Nomcebo is on DJ Tira’s latest project 21 Years Of DJ Tira.
Open Mic Productions argues that the song which Nomcebo did with DJ Tira goes against their efforts to establish her as a solo artist.
The record label also alleges DJ Tira did not approach them before getting Nomcebo on Nguwe.
DJ Tira has confirmed receiving the request by Open Mic to remove the song Nguwe.
He said at the end of the day it is up to Nomcebo to deal with her record label.
The Afrotainment boss said he will approach Open Mic and hopefully find an amicable solution to the situation.
“Yes those are some of their demands and I’m responding to all of that so that we can find common ground. I think there was a breakdown of communication between me, Nomcebo and them (Open Mic). I was dealing with Nomcebo a lot, but she was also supposed to finalise things with them,” he told the publication.
Nomcebo has been recently called out for performing at a packed venue in Venda.
This is against the country’s COVID-19 national lockdown regulations.
The musician received backlash after she took to social media on Tuesday, 22 September to share a video of herself performing her smash hit Xola Moya Wam’ for an excited crowd at News Café in Thavhani Mall, Venda recently.
