Chiefs have been looking for a coach after sacking German trainer Ernst Middendorp following a disappointing season. Many local and foreign based coaches have been linked with perhaps the most demanding job in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League with frontrunners being Hunt, Botswana coach Adel Amerouche and Stuart Baxter. The prospective candidates were all contacted for the job leading to the selection of Hunt as the best candidate. Kaizer Chiefs were reported to be interested in Bafana Bafana legend and UEFA Champions League winner Benny McCarthy.
Kaizer Chiefs will be Gavin Hunt’s 7th club since he started his coaching career 25 years ago. He started at Seven Stars back in 1995 and he has won eight major titles. Amakhosi expect the experienced coach to bring some silverware to the Naturena.
