Police Hunt For Job Sikhala Ahead Of 31 July Protests
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has appealed to the public for information on the whereabouts of MDC Alliance legislator for Zengeza West Job Sikhala and other political activists ahead of the 31 July protests.
A notice released by the police also states that they are looking for former Godfrey Kurauone, Tajamuka activist Promise Mkwananzi, Makomborero Haruziviishe, Denford Ngadziore, Ostallos Siziba, Allan Moyo and MDC Alliance youth leader Obey Sithole.
The notice comes at a time when the State has launched a crackdown on 31 July protests organisers.
ZRP says that it is looking for the activists so that it can conduct interviews. The notice reads:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing to members of the public to supply information on the location of underlisted activists;

Sikhala was reportedly spotted near the Zambian border in Victoria Falls on 25 July.
The Zengeza West legislator who is allegedly on the run has vowed that the State must not be allowed to abuse civilians’ rights.
The development comes after state agents descended onto his house earlier last week when journalist Hopewell Chin’ono was arrested together with Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume, incidents that happened on the same day.
The two who are accused of inciting public violence, where denied in two separate Harare court. They were remanded in custody to the 7th of August 2020.
Government has since denied that it targetted journalist Chin’ono who exposed a corruption scandal which implicated President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son Collins.
The country’s Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa even alleged that President Mnangagwa ordered an investigation into the Drax affair before Hopewell Chin’ono started tweeting about it.
Health Minister Obadiah Moyo was fired as a result of the scandal.
Minister Mutsvangwa questioned why Chin’ono and Ngarivhume were choosing to call for an uprising at a time the country is grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic.
