Inter Milan legend Sulley Muntari has declared the South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) as his next destination in his glorious football journey.
Muntari peaked his career in the city of Milan i n Italy with his most decorated moment winning a treble that included a UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan. He also played for Inter Milan’s city rivals AC Milan.
The Ghanaian is back in his native country after a short stint with Spanish second division side Albacete.
According to South Africa-based agent Sipho Shaven, the 35-year-old is training with Liberty FC in Ghana while weighing up his options for his next move.
Muntari would like to return to South Africa, where he enjoyed great moments with Ghanaian National Team during the World Cup in 2020 where they were controversially eliminated in the quarter finals.
Muntari’s love for the PSL has been revealed by his South Africa-based agent Sipho Shaven.
“He has given me a mandate to talk to clubs in South Africa. He is very keen to play in the PSL next season,” Shaven told KickOff.
Shaven says he will be engaging a number of clubs in South Africa to find a home for his client.
“Remember, our league is well respected on the continent and a high-profile player will not turn down an opportunity to play in the PSL.
The agent revealed Muntari is training with Ghanaian club Liberty to keep himself fit as he is now a free agent. Muntari’s career started at Liberty before he moved to Italy to train with Udinese Youth before making it to the senior team in 2002. He also played in the English Premier League with stints at Portsmouth and Sunderland.
Muntari is well respected for his defensive midfield role and also his shot power such as the one he produced in the quarter final game against Uruguay during the 2010 World Cup.
