5 coolest record producers who are actually Zimbabweans
Mzansi is packed with a tonne of music producers, but not all successful producers are originally from S.A. In appreciation of African talent, we identified 5 South African based producers who are Zimbabweans.
1. Brian Soko
He is probably the richest music producer originally from Zimbabwe. Brian Soko is a hip hop record producer who begged an award for producing Beyonce‘s hit track ‘Drunk in love”. He was born and raised in Chiredzi, in the Sourthen region of Zimbabwe.
Brian Soko found music not to be a business in Zimbabwe, so he moved to South Africa where he produced hits for hip hop artists the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Dj Vigilante and K.O. Upon attaining international recognition, Brian moved to USA and produced tracks for Kendric Lamar, Lil Wayne and Rich gang.
2. Mr Brown
Mr Brown is a renowned South African record producer, singer and songwriter. You might not be aware that he co-produced Master KG & Zanda Zakuza‘s hit, “skeleton move” as well as “Xola moya wami” by Nomcebo Zikode. Mr Brown deserves to be crowned SA producer of the year 2020, as he produced hits more than any other producer. Do not mistaken him for a new comer, in retrospect, he is also behind the 2017 hit “Lazaro”, but features as “Lynol”.
Lynol Siwela is Mr Brown’s real name and he was born in Zimbabwe. His career started way back in 2004, but his big break came in 2017 after he co-founded the house music duo ‘Murungu Africa.’ Mr Brown is signed to Open Mic Productions and he recently dropped his much awaited debut album as a solo artist. His album is titled ‘Rain on me’ and it features the likes of Master KG, Makhadzi, Nox and Zanda Zakuza.
