It is the baby face for Mzansi that has left masses in shock. Scandal fans have grown to love Mamba‘s teenage daughter Aya as she continues to grace the small screen. It is her final word that leads to her sassy step-mother’s demise. When she finds out her father’s punishment for Violetta, Aya’s world comes tumbling down with guilt. As she now confides in the conniving Boniswa, more drama continues to unfold.
Aya is a character brought to life by Ayanda Nzimande. It is shocking how a 25 year old can execute a 15 year old role flawlessly. Yes you read that right, Ayanda is not a teenager. Born on the 26th of December 1995 her baby face contributes to the actress landing Aya’s role.

“I have a baby face so at least I do not have to worry about looking too much older than Aya. The age gap is quite big and I’m thankful that even at home I stay with teenagers, so I know what they are into nowadays and how they speak. Also I have been there before so all I have to do is tap into my 15 year old self to help Aya come alive.”
Speaking on her acting gig she has this to say:
“This is my big break. I am so grateful that I am where I am right now. I have always loved watching Scandal and wished one day I could join the cast. This is a dream come true for me. It is a manifestation of what I hoped for. Also I cannot believe I am acting so close to Lusanda Mbane who plays Boniswa Langa. I love her,” Ayanda says.
The actress shares how Lusanda has always been her rock and how she hypes her up while on set
“Because I have such a strong theatre background, I would sometimes get nervous when I first started. I felt that I was not doing enough and Lusanda would encourage me by giving me pep talk, telling me to relax because I’ve got this. I am grateful for that,” she adds.
Ayanda’s dream was to be an astronaut so that she can be closer to the stars. Acting however is helping her do the same except that the stars close to her are humans.
