ZRP in full force countrywide to enforce COVID-19 regulations
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is out in full force to enforce compliance with COVID-19 regulations during the Easter holidays. This move is aimed at avoiding a third wave of the virus.
Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe confirms this during an interview with The Manica Post. He said police will be on high alert to monitor COVID-19 compliance during the holidays.
“The police are ready. As mentioned by President Mnangagwa, there are new measures put in place relating to how we should be conducting ourselves and travelling this Easter. As a result the police is ready to enforce those regulations.”

“You will see a number of roadblocks. You will also find police patrolling to monitor compliance. We want everyone to be compliant so that we are safe. At the end of it all, life is more important.”
“Your life and my life should be protected. As much as we want to have fun and enjoy ourselves, we can only do so when we are alive. I urge all citizens to comply with the measures put in place and to play their part in curbing the spread of the virus,” Minister Kazembe said.
On Tuesday the President announced measures to avoid a third wave of COVID-19. These include boarders not allowed to go home during the holidays and parents not visiting their children at school.
Church gatherings to remain at 50 people per session. Unnecessary travelling is discouraged and people are encouraged to wear facial masks and keep social distancing. Those travelling into the country are required to produce a COVID-19 PCR negative test result or they will be placed in quarantine for 10 days at their own expense.
Bars and nightclubs will remain banned from operating. Zimbabweans are also encouraged to be vaccinated.
