Zimbabwean National Nowa Makula Axes 6 Family Members In A Gruesome Murder In SA
A Zimbabwean national based in South Africa was nabbed after brutally axing 6 of his close family members in cold blood. Nowa axes his family members in an execution-style whilst sleeping in their shack.
Nowa Makula (32) is nabbed by detectives last week whilst trying to flee South Africa. Makula hacked his wife and five children in cold blood.
The gruesome murders have since gained international attention. The remorse killings come in the backdrop of 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence campaign.
The accused made his first court appearance in the Elliotdale Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The case was then postponed for 7 December after the accused cited the need for a Shona interpreter and Legal representative.

Before the court case, the police had to displace the marauding residents who were baring for Makula blood. There emotional scenes during the court session as some of the deceased family members collapsed when Makula (32) took the stand.
The Zimbabwean national is facing several counts including murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Makula was nabbed on the 26th of November in Ginsberg, near King William’s Town.
The court indicated that more charges might be added to the already existing counts. The state papers attested that Law enforcing agencies were doing a background check on the accused and his documents.

Makula is being accused of axing his girlfriend Nomzamo Mhlanti (42) and her five kids Azakhiwe (10), Ibanathi (8), Wineka (5), Thoko (5) and Luphumlo (6 months) while they were sleeping in their shack on the 24th November.
During his brief appearance requested for Legal Aid Attorney. The accused also indicated that he wanted to be assisted by a Shona interpreter.
Amongst protestors outside the court was ANC Women’s League members and ATM members, led by party president Vuyolwethu Zungula.
The matter was postponed to the 7th of December.
