Zimbabwean returnees quarantined want more condoms, finish 4 boxes in one day: Simon Masanga, the Secretary for Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare said 4 boxes of condoms were finished in 24 hours. Zimbabwe could be faced with another problem as the returnees are not observing the lockdown rules but engaging in intimacy. Such behaviours will result in the spread of the coronavirus.

Simon Masanga said, “Three boxes were finished in twenty four hours, these are adults and it is not a military camp. We cannot restrict or ask people where they are going.”
The incident happened at Plumtree where 193 Zimbabweans are currently quarantined. Thee returnees were living in Botswana but were deported during the national lockdown currently happening in Botswana.
“The returnees maybe succeeding in reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS but they are failing to reduce the spread of coronavirus. The Zimbabwe returnees may need to be guarded or to have their doors locked,” said one concerned citizen.

Zimbabwe has opened a number of quarantine sites across the country such as NSSA hotel in Beitbridge, Belvedere Teachers college in Harare.

Zimbabwe is expecting more returnees from South Africa. Other Zimbabweans in South Africa have also asked the government to repatriate them back home as they are facing a food shortage in South Africa. South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the government will pay R350 monthly to unemployed South Africans. The social grant will not cover foreign nationals hence the need for Zimbabweans to make their own plans to survive the lockdown.
The government has cut the mandatory quarantine days from twenty one to seven. The government says the objective is to decongest the quarantine camps. Zimbabweans believe the government is not able to provide for the essentials needed in the quarantine camps. Recently the government blamed UK returnees for demanding hotel stay and refusing to stay at Belvedere teachers college. The UK returnees argued that they only demanded running water and other essentials.
It turned out that Belvedere teachers college does not have running water and the returnees are forced to share toilets which increases the risk of contracting covid-19.
Zimbabwe currently has 28 covid-19 cases, 4 deaths and two recoveries.
