Zimbabwe Republic Police has started increasing their presence in towns across Zimbabwe in a bid to reduce the traffic in central business districts (CBDs). Zimbabweans had started to disobey the lockdown regulations put in place by the government.
Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi warned motorists their cars are going to be impounded if they do not have exemptions to enter the CBD.
State media reported that police are now strictly vetting private vehicles seeking to get into Harare Central Business District at various check points. Motorists should produce letters showing that they are providing essential services.
Motorists seeking to enter the CBD are supposed to produce a permit.
