Spokesperson of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces Colonel Everson Mugwisi has died according to various sources.
Contacted for a comment the Zimbabwe National Army spokesperson Alphios Makotore referred all the questions to the ZDF headquarters.
Mugwisi has been on sick leave for a while and was Colonel Mokotore was the acting spokesperson in his absence.
Prominet lawyer Alex Magaisa says he has ‘read’ that Mugwisi died of Covid-19. He posted, “I have read that Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) spokesperson Col. Overson Mugwisi succumbed to COVID19. He probably had a seat in in the Joint Operations Command (JOC) and one imagines JOC must have been very busy & meeting regularly in the run up to July 31.”
A family spokesperson that talked to New Zimbabwe said Mugwisi died at an Army hospital at the Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks, formerly KGV1 Barracks in Harare where he was rushed to overnight after the family failed to have him admitted at both private and public hospitals.
