Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa Forward In Faith leader Ezekiel Guti has spoken about the covid-19 pandemic. The cleric leads Zimbabwe’s largest Pentecostal church by number of branches.
He is reported to have warned his church that 2020 will be a difficult year. The 96 year old evangelist wrote a letter to his church.
Baba Guti as he is known by his followers advised member sof ZAOGA not to be afraid. “With reference to what is happening in the world today, we don’t have to be afraid.”
The leader reminded his flock about the popular 10 days fasting and prayer they perform every year. He reminded them they asked for God’s protection during the year. “During this year’s ten days of prayer and fasting, we prayed to God to protect us during the year,” the Chipinge born preacher said.
“I want to say to all members of ZAOGA Forward In Faith International, do not be afraid,” he continued.
Guti said he had already told his congregants that 2020 will be a different year from all other years and requires God’s mercy. “As I have already told you in the ten days letter, that the year 2020 is different from all the other years.”
He further went on to emphasise that the pandemic is a spiritual thing that he cannot explain but tncouraged people to make sure their relationships with God is right. “We need to be strong as never before, because there are things in the spiritual world that I cannot be able to explain, except that I encourage everyone to make sure that your relationship with God is right.”
Guti ended the letter by calling upon all ZAOGA members to follow the guidelines that are being directed by the government because ‘it is right’.
Guti is also the Chancellor and Founder of Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University in Bindura.
