Singer and songwriter Bulelwa ‘Zahara’ Mkutukana passed away less than a month ago, but her sisters Bandezwa and Lumka have already moved into her Lille Falls, Roodepoort, house and taken her clothes and things. The sisters were suspected of using Zahara’s bank account and spending money at Small Street in Johannesburg when the Loliwe singer was in critical condition.
A close friend says the bank card was blocked to stop the ‘shopaholic’ sisters. “They asked for the pin, but none of us knew it. After they tried a few times, the card was blocked,” he says and adds, “Those two have been doing terrible things. Bulelwa used to tell them they could never live like her.
They were always envious of her success and wanted to be like her, but they failed.” The source tells ZiMoja they have gone into Zahara’s wardrobe and taken her valuable performance dresses. “Our culture says that when someone dies, we have to have a ceremony where the clothes are given away to family and friends,” he says. “This has not happened. But they have already started wearing her clothes and showing off. I’m sure she is angry wherever she is.” The friend says, “Babezwa wore a white dress that Zahara wore in her last show before she died. It’s very sad. The lies they have been telling about her fiance, Mpho, are unbelievable.” When asked about the issue, Zahara’s sister, Bandezwa, said, “We were just trying them on. What is wrong with that? She is not here anymore.
