Zahara’s family confirms she is in hospital for a week. The family of award-winning singer Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana has confirmed that she has been in hospital for a week, following media reports that she is suffering from a liver-related disease. The family and team of the Loliwe star released a statement on Monday, expressing their gratitude for the support and sympathy from South Africans for Mkutukana.
The statement said that Mkutukana was admitted to the hospital after experiencing pains, and that the doctors are working hard to treat her. “We are thankful for the love, support and compassion that our dear Zahara has received from the public since the recent media articles about her health condition,” the family said in the statement.
“Zahara was taken to the hospital a week ago due to some physical pains. The doctors are doing their best and we are waiting for more updates from them.”
The family also said that there has been false information circulating about the Umthwalo singer’s health, and that they are asking for privacy and prayers for her recovery.
Zahara’s wedding plans In June, it was reported by Sunday World that the Eastern Cape-born musician was planning to have two wedding ceremonies this month with her fiancé Mpho Xaba, an engineer. The couple got engaged in March after dating for only six months.
A source close to them said that they are already living together, as Xaba spends most of his time at Mkutukana’s house in Ruimsig in the north of Johannesburg.
This was the third time that Zahara got engaged, after her previous engagements with radio presenter Amaza Ntshanga in 2017 and Ian Sibiya in 2019 ended in break-ups.
