“Zahara’s ancestors are dealing with him“ DJ Sbu’s new scruffy look has fans worried
No doubt he has been trending of late for the wrong reasons. Businessman and media personality DJ Sbu has been topping the trends after his viral new enigmatic look has set tongues wagging on social media. In the wake of the viral images, Mzansi has been wondering if it has to do with Zahara’s ancestors.
In the wake of the viral videos, tweeps weighed into the viral images with trolls. They roasted the Mofaya founder for his scruffy look. The club DJ was in a dirty-looking poncho and very untidy dreadlocks. Mzansi was more than convinced that the pictures were a series of screenshots from an episode of DJ Sbu’s podcast, Hustler’s Corner, in which he interviews fellow podcasters, MacG and Sol, who host Podcast and Chill.
Tweeps are more than convinced that Zahara’s are working overtime to serve justice to their bubbly songstress and multi-award-winning Afro-fusion sensation. While some tweeps compared DJ Sbu to American rappers Jay Z and J Cole, others were convinced that singer Zahara’s ancestors were “dealing with him”.

Zahara has it that Sbu whom he was signed under swingled his proceeds from his debut album which was an international hit. The two haven’t been in good books for years and it all started when Zahara accused DJ Sbu and Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza (who were her record label executives at her former label, TS Records) of exploiting her.
A few years ago Zahara dropped a bombshell when he reviewed that she did not receive royalties for her debut album Loliwe. The debut album has more than 500 000 copies sold and won Zahara several awards. But, according in recent years, DJ Sbu has always rubbished the daring claims. He even went on to take a swipe at Zahara. Taking to Twitter DJ Sbu tweeted:
“Ms Zahara’s money has always gone to her.”
In response, the Mgodi singer rubbished his claims and called him a liar.
“I haven’t been getting anything since I left the record label and I saw recently that my music was uploaded on digital platforms without me knowing, it means they sold my records to somebody and it means I need to get a cut for it.”
During Zahara’s hardship this year when she was on the brink of losing her townhouse in Roodeport, she again blamed her financial challenges on DJ Sbu and Nciza. And in this royalties war, tweeps have always been on Zahara’s side.
