South Africans had a lot to say after Naledi Chirwa, an Economic Freedom Fighter MP, called President Cyril Ramaphosa a weak little boy. Twitter was a divided field of opinions after the politician made that remark. Some people agreed with the 28year old MP’s statement, while others condemned her for the way she put her point across. Mohale Motaung’s attempt to criticize Naledi Chirwa’s tweet has led to many South Africans attacking him.
Somizi’s ex-husband Mohale Motaung took to Twitter to try and put in his thoughts on the whole Naledi tweet issue. The radio host and entertainer, in his tweet, said:
Y’all call elders “Weak boys” & “Drunkards” all in the name of calling them out? This app is weird
However, his followers were quick to call him out in a savage manner. Some of the responses to his tweets were rebuking him from preaching about morals when he called someone twice his age baby and love. Some talked about the rumour that Mohale had stolen from Somizi, who is his elder.
Mohale addressed all the comments in a follow-up tweet where he said that ‘Anyway each to his own’. The entertainer may have discovered that there was no winning when it comes to Black Twitter as Mohale Motaung’s attempt to troll Naledi fails.
Why Tweeps trolled Mohale on the issue of age
Somizi and Mohale’s age difference
After their wedding made headlines, their happiness was short-lived when rumours of fights circulated. In July last year, it was already known by the public that their marriage was rocky. When Mohale took to Instagram to celebrate his 27th birthday, it did not take long for Tweeps to question the two spouses’ age difference. Mohale faced a lot of trolling from the public as they accused him of marrying Somizi for money and fame. In the middle of all that drama, a rumour started that Mohale had stolen from Somizi, and it only fuelled the hate.
The backstory to the Naledi Chirwa insult story
The Presidency posted a Tweet with part of President Ramaphosa’s speech as part of his weekly message to the nation on Monday. In the speech, he highlighted the incidents that took place in the previous year. These events ranged from the fire at the Parliament to the state capture report. To all this, Naledi Chirwa responded:
You’re such a weak little boy. All your fellow stooges u sent to collapse Lindiwe were collapsed themselves. It won’t be surprising if u do what little boys do when overpowered by women. Throw the tantrum we are expecting it. You’ll forever remain a toothless boy. Mfana ke mfana.
Many Twitter users were quick to rebuke her for not respecting her elders. Some were applauding her for calling out politicians who steal from the country and even made comparisons when former President Zuma was called worse names, and no one said anything.
