Nigerian Politician Daniel Ukpera, donated new ropes to tie goats in his Benue community.<\/p>\n
Ukpera rope donations were in line with the law that prevents free movement and grazing of goats, the Anti-Open Grazing and Ranches Establishment Law, 2017.<\/p>\n
Honorable Daniel Ukpera contested for Guma constituency seat in the Benue state House of Assembly 2019 on the platform of Labour party and eventually lost to the People\u2019s Democratic Party contestant, Hon. Bem Benjamin Mzondu.<\/p>\n

Addressing beneficiaries of his rope donation at Imande Akpu and Tse-Chagu communities Daniel Ukpera emphasized on the need to lead by example.<\/p>\n

\u2018The community has to lead by example so that visitors will emulate the efforts to follow rule of law which restricts free grazing of livestock<\/em>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He explained that his choice of Tse-Chagu and Imande Akpu as the first beneficiaries of this round of distribution was informed by the fact that they are the highest goat owners in that part of the Local Government.<\/p>\n
After a thorough sensitization on the need for tying of goats, Ukpera took record of those who needed the ropes but could not get it owing to the large turn out of people and promised to reach them soon in another round of the gesture.<\/p>\n

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries at Imande Akpu, elder John Tyeku appreciated the efforts of Hon. Ukpera saying, what he had brought to them was a welcome development. He noted that tying of goats remained a major challenge to them as regards rearing of livestock.<\/p>\n
