Elijah Ruchiyo (73) of ward 7, village 3A under Chief Mutambara sliced his privates off in an attempt to commit suicide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After spending nineteen years depending on his son and living as a widower, Elijah decides to to give up on his his life. On the 1st of January 2021, Elijah Ruchiyo resorted to ending his life by slicing off his privates<\/a>. At first he plunged into a 4m deep well but the attempt failed.<\/p>\n

The Weekender reports that Mr Elijah Ruchiyo used an Okapi knife to slice of his privates. The son Mr Hazvinei Ruchiyo confirms this incident. During an interview the son said,<\/p>\n

“My father’s clothes were bloodstained and we suspect that he used the Okapi knife to try to kill himself by slicing his privates. When I asked my father what had happened he told me that he initially threw himself in a well in a bid to end his life. He then decided to cut off his privates after realizing that he had failed to die after the plunge into the well. “<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The whereabouts of the private parts are still unknown. The villagers<\/a> and close family have been looking for the knife and private parts but as of yet no luck.<\/p>\n

Hazvinei blames old age and illness as reason for his father’s decision. Mrs Ruchiyo, Elijah’s daughter in-law tells The Weekender that her father in-law had been thinking about killing himself for sometime. She says Elijah repeatedly told her that he was fed up with life and wanted to die.<\/p>\n
