Bujy Bikwa is a controversial Zimbabwean-born South African radio host. He is also known as Junior Bikwa and doubles as a television presenter and producer. His thrust into the limelight came in the backdrop of the SABC1 reality competition Dance Your Butt Off. During the reality show’s 2010-11 season, he was among the top 4 contestants.

However, he has managed to keep his private life under wraps, but Mzansi has connected the dots about his place of birth and parents. Reports have it that he was born to a Zimbabwean father and a South African mother. Little is known about what happened to his parents, but he moved to South Africa.
Despite being born in Zimbabwe, Bujy had no option but to move to South Africa with his mother in 1992. Of interest is the fact that his mother was South African. Years later, he saw himself being bred in Orange Farm. However, he later moved to Johannesburg to make ends meet and pursue his career.
Career
He is a celebrated content producer. Before his thrust into the limelight, he was once a co-host of Drive Time on YFM. No doubt his shot to fame came in the backdrop of the SABC1 reality competition Dance Your Butt Off. In the mix, he opened up that he was “tired of being the fat gay guy on the dance floor”.
Since then, he has been winning big of late. In the wake of his newfound fame, he went on to co-host the Mzansi Magic/Mzansi Wethu game show Cula Sibone with Phumeza Dlwati. He then dumped the show in the eleventh hour. Since then, he has secured gigs from several stations across South Africa.
Radio Politics
A few months ago, he opened up on radio politics on how to survive and thrive on local radio stations. He also took a swipe at how toxic the stations have become. He has it that the more popular one is, the more likely he is to stay longer and have more slots.
Bujy also dived into the toxic nature of stations. He condemns the competitive nature of colleagues at radio stations. The bubbly on-air personality has it that the mentality to outshine each other is toxic and deters others from loving their work.
Working With MacG
With several controversies marring his career, one can liken him to MacG regarding drama. Bujy 2022 revealed that he was having a podcast show on the cards under Podcast and Chill with MacG. His podcast will elevate the LGBTQI community and dive into their woes in a developing country like South Africa.
Metro FM Dramatic Exit
After three years with the station, he made all sorts of headlines when he signed off from Metro FM. He was part of the seasoned on-air personalities who had not renewed their contracts with the station.
He had a string of bad headlines, from fighting with Boity to blasting Khutso Theledi’s accent on air. Reports have it that his off-air scandals complicated his relationship with the station.
Fight With Boity
In 2021, Boity Thulo and Bujy fought outside the Midrand Hotel during a mobile phone launch. The fight was so nasty that the two had to be separated by armed security. Boity was severely hurt as he was smashed with a bottle at his face by Bujy, who was later arrested and detained at Johannesburg Correctional Centre.
