Where are they now? What happened to the old Generation’s star-studded cast? No doubt we can all agree on the fact that Generations has been one of the best drama series in Mzansi. Well, it has back-established itself as Generations: The Legacy and Mzansi has been wondering what happened to its lead cast that wowed Mzansi for years with their unmatched acting flair.
The now-defunct SABC 1s drama series produced some of the best actors who have since become one of Mzansi’s finest regarding small screens. Let’s dive into its lead cast and try to connect the dots about its whereabouts.
Connie Ferguson
Connie Ferguson has since established herself as a celebrated Filmmaker and Producer and the brains behind Ferguson Films. She was part of the show from its premiere in 1994 till 2010 before she returned for a short stint. She has been dupped ad the goddess of small screens—best known for her onscreen character Karabo Moroka on Generations. In recent years she has been starring in her productions, including The Queen.
Leleti Khumalo
Currently, she is nailing her onscreen character on Imbewu: The Seed as MaZulu. Apart from that, she also doubles as the e.tvs drama series co-producer. The bubbly actress starred as Busi Dlomo and was fired in 2007, and her character was written off in 2008. However, she has since established herself as one of the best actresses to come out of South Africa.
Sophie Ndaba
In the wake of her exit from Generations, her illustrious career in small screens turned south. Sophie Ndaba played the might Queen Moroka. However, in the mix of things, she was axed from the drama series in a contract-related fallout. Since then, she has struggled to secure more gigs. Her ill health has also taken a toll on her career. In 2021 she returned to small screens with a cameo gig on House Of Zwide as Jo.
Fana Mokoena
The bubbly actor starred as Dr Mandla Sithole. In the wake of his newfound fame after Generations exit, he has since branded himself as one of the best actors in Mzansi and the world at large. He has since starred in several series, which include e.tvs drama series Scandal. Mokoena has also established himself as a politician with affiliation to EFF.
Late Menzi Ngubane
The celebrated died in 2021 after a long illness. In the SABC 1 drama series, he starred as Subusiso Dhlomo. He was one of the longest-serving lead actors on the show. He starred in the drama series from 2003-2014.
Zolisa Xaluva
He starred as Jason and brought the whole concept of LGBTQ onto small screens. Of late, he has been making money from being one of the highest-paid lead actors on Mzansi Magics’ most watched drama series Gomora to starring in International projects. On Gomora he stars as Melusi.
Sonia Mbele
Her newfound fame on Generations has since established her as one of Mzansi’s finest. In the drama series, she starred as Ntombi Dhlomo, married to Dhlomo’s character, played by the late Menzi Ngubane. They had a daughter Christina Dhlomo.
Thami Mngqolo
He was part of the star-studded cast of Generations and played the onscreen character of Senzo Dhlomo in the drama series. He has since switched the floor from acting to event management and being an MC. Of late, he has been keeping his private life under wraps leaving many to guess about his whereabouts.
Maggie Benedict
She starred as Akhona in Generations. Her dramatic exit from Generations has since become the Hollywood darling. In the wake of her newfound fame, she has managed to star in drama series, including We Speak NYC, Random Acts of Flyness, New Amsterdam and The Romanoffs 2018.
