Whatsapp is also fighting the spread of fake news. The platform was used to share fake news and conspiracy theories during the covid-19 era and the owners are trying to bring sanity to the issue.
Recently the government of India requested Whatsapp to review their forwarding rules due to the spread of misinformation in Whatsapp’s biggest market.
It is not the first time the global messaging platform has changed the way people forward messages. In 2018 it changed the rules from 20 groups to 5 groups.
