Mandisa Shaceka School in West Rand has shut down after a student or a staffer tested positive for Covid-19. The school has asked students at Mandisa Shiceka High School to stay home as they are trying to get in control of the situation disinfect and test other staff for coronavirus.
The school is not yet clear whether is a teacher or a pupil that has tested positive for coronavirus. The school says they will inform parents about when the school is opening.

Part of the notice by Mandisa Shaceka School to parents read, “Please be informed that the school has a confirmed Positive case of Covid-19 therefore learners are requested to stay at home until further notice. Learners and parents would be informed through sms as to when they will be expected to return to school.
Learners are hereby released as of 11:00am on the 09th June 2020 We apologies for the inconvenience caused.Thank you Yours in Education.”
Infections are rising in West Rand due to mining activity.
