South Africans were devastated when Bonko Khoza left the show because he was a fan favourite. He did such an excellent job portraying Mqhele that he even received a SAFTA. Although his departure from the show has not yet been explained, it followed the announcements of several other cast members, including Mbalenhle Mavimbela, the show’s main attraction. The directors successfully brought back everyone who had left, and Mzansi had hoped Bonko would join them, but he never did, so they had to replace him.
Wiseman Mncube is now in his place. Originally from Uzalo and best known as Sibonelo, this star decided to spread his wings and is now known as Mqhele. Following the announcement that he will appear on the show, Mncube recently thanked his fans in traditional Zulu style. After it was announced that he would be joining The Wife, he took to his Instagram in his hometown Lanaguge Isizulu to express his gratitude to those who had welcomed him. He will be replacing Bonko Khoza, who played the role of Mqhele.
Aside from admitting that Mqhele is a fascinating role and is in his element, he also said there is a lot to think about and playoff, including the love story, the anger, and the care. He expressed gratitude to everyone for their support and love and committed to keeping it up do his best to amuse Mzansi. He praised Bonko for playing the part with such respect and authority and assured Mzansi that he wasn’t there to take Bonko’s place but rather to begin his journey as Mqhele, pick up where he left off, and carry on in his way.
