The visuals are comprised of different sets, it begins with a flower bed set, goes into song book pages, transcends to archery and also features a tennis scene. Such poignant story telling could only be perfect in the hands of Monde Gumede, the incredible director of the short film. In the short film, Shekhinah hints the themes prevalent in her much anticipated sophomore album. The themes include nostalgia, resilience and rebirth. Each attire reflects a certain element of the themes. A bold head is definitively a symbol of rebirth. Accompanying the overt crafting of imagery is the undertone of red hues that seeks to represent the burning of the past’s blissful moments.

“My new project ’Trouble in Paradise’ is a continuation of my first album ’RoseGold’, which spoke to blissful ignorance.
“The idea is that all that was ’RoseGold’ is now ablaze. Paradise is no longer the place it used to be and trouble has come. Red for me signifies the burning of paradise,” Shekhinah said about the short film.
Shekhinah is a unique artist, whose mentality is hard to predict. From her idols journey to her debut album Rose Gold, she has brought up unique views about love and life in general. Her vocals are world standard and her song writing skills are equally good. Although all her songs are incredible, Shekhinah’s most popular song is ‘different’. In this song she expressed how her appearance, cognition, feelings and attitudes are different to others. Now, the difference is coming to light and Idols judges, Randal, Unathi and Idols fanatics, probably regret not realising her potential. Her Idols journey was disappointing , but however, she learnt quite a lot and utilised the experience in her solo endeavours.
Trouble in paradise is a 12 track album, comprised of songs written by Shekhinah herself. It features tracks such as fixate, beautiful, insecure, diamond do, confetti, not safe and tides. The album was initially set to be released on the 27th of November 2020, but the release date was pushed back. Her fans were disappointed because they had been hyped by her nomination for the 2020 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in the “Favourite African Star” category.
