Shalate Sekhabi takes on the role of Shoki in the etv drama series House of Zwide, a township girl in love with the heir of a fashion house empire. Besides taking her part seriously on-screen, Shalate has other hustles she does on the side when she is not playing fictional characters.
Shoki’s love story with Nkosi Zwide has been full of ups and downs and currently looks like there is no room for reconciliation. Nkosi has hope and confesses that he can not live without Shoki. However, she makes a decision that serves her happiness to never get back with him.
The relationship caused problems for her friendship with Ona and Nomsa; her mind is set on the breakup. However, the heart sometimes does not listen to reason as she still has feelings for the guy.

Shalate is a full-time musician specializing in pop when she is not on-screen. She started singing in 2020 with a hit single called Lerato which can be streamed on all streaming networks. Towards the end of 2021, Shalate released a single that fans received with great joy called Trust. The love song went viral the day that it was released.

When she was only eleven years old, she joined Steele Models. That started her career as a model, which she is pursuing up to this day. With Shalate’s natural beauty and incredible body, it made it easy for her to fall into modelling and kick off her career.
Sekhabi realized her love for acting when she was only eight years old. The actress followed in her father’s footsteps as a director and playwright. She went on to join that drama club and school choir that same year. Her debut as an actress came at 14 on a feature film called A Cup of Sugar and Making a killing later that same year.
The drama series part of the industry welcomed her in 2020 with a recurring role as Millicent. After her success in playing that role, she was offered the role of Shoki in House of Zwide, which replaced the long-running Rhythm City.
