Watch: Police successfully stop man who tries to commit suicide at the Paul Kruger statue
A video of a man trying to commit suicide at the Paul Kruger statue is making rounds on social media. The good news is the police with the help of some civilians stop that man from executing the suicide.
In the video a man is tying a rope around his neck and attempts to jump when the public alerts the police and try to help him. The ma has a stick he uses to make sure officers do not stop him. The police officers do not give up and advance to this troubled man and snatch his stick away.
Other men then get to him and remove the rope from his neck. Whatever problems one has it is important to talk about them or see a specialist. Suicide is never an answer but brings pain to the loved ones. The reason why this man wanted to kill himself is unknown.
What can be confirmed is that the man is safe and has been taken in by the Police so that he gets necessary help. Cases of Suicide seem to be related to depression which is a major problems being faced by the youth and elderly.

In South AFrica approximately 60% of people who commit suicide are depressed. About 8% of deaths in Mzansi are suicide related. The South African Depression and Anxiety Group reports that mental health issues worsened during the lock down.
The group reports that about 65% of people had heightened stress challenges during the lockdown. The contribution factors were mainly income related problems and loss of a loved one. From the pandemic a lot f businesses were affected and this can stress individuals leading to suicidal thoughts if they problems are not addressed well.
