South Africans are beaming with pride after Ndlovu Youth Choir’s energetic performance at America Got Talent.

After making the final in 2019, the singing group was selected as part of the top 16 acts of all time among Got Talent franchises to compete in the All-Star show. Ndlovu Youth Choir mopped the floor with their fantastic performance on 23 January, and they represented their country well.

Talking after their phenomenal performance, the artistic director Ralf Schmitt told news reporters that:

“We dedicated our performance to the people of South Africa. We wanted to do an original song instead of a cover; we have amazing songwriters. It’s about the South African spirit of resilience,” artistic director Ralf Schmitt told TshisaLIVE.

“There are so many young South Africans who need an opportunity, and we tried to represent them well. Being on that stage is a huge privilege and honour and a reminder to the country about the potential of South Africans.”

“It’s always an honour being on such a big stage. It may have been a bit daunting, but we have such an incredible mentorship in the choir and take good care of them that they took the challenge by the horns. When they didn’t go through, I told them they had won a career in the arts, and I am proud that they get to reap all kinds of opportunities coming our way.”

South Africans reacted

The Ndlovu Youth Choir has been trending on social media, and South Africans are proud of their choir. Many are impressed by how the ensemble has raised the South African flag high internationally. An Instagram user commented:

IMHO this dance team was a better candidate for Gold Buzzer. Delay gold buzzer until all acts are completed and standing on stage, then announce buzzer winner! Gotta see all acts to make decision!

This would’ve been a great Soccer World Cup song, we could’ve been singing it till today like the 2010 one 😁.
Trust South Africa to bring in the spicy
