Kelly Rowland’s low essential visit to the country has been in people’s mouths since she unexpectedly landed last week in South Africa.
Kelly was in the country to do a job with the alcohol brand Brutal Fruit to shoot a commercial with them. Brutal Fruit had also released a perfume range.
Kelly has already left the country, but she has shared some highlights of being in South Africa.
She shared a video of herself hanging out with Bontle Modiselle. Kelly went to her dance studio to learn some Amapiano dance moves, and she was more than impressed with her experience.
Kelly had dinner at Les Créatifs and took a picture with Chef Wandile Mabaso. Chef cooked for Beyonce when she was in the country with her husband, Jay Z.
The problem started when Kelly shared the custom made Bathu shoe gift she received.
Social media was unimpressed with the design and called it ugly. The shoes have an earthy touch to them, the other one is engraved with the South African flag and sign, and the other shoe has Kelly’s face on it.
Social media didn’t hold back on what they thought. Some thought they should have just given her normal Bathu without all the cheesy branding. Black Twitter feels that these shoes don’t represent the true beauty of Bathu shoes and that Kelly will become the laughing stock in the states.
Everyone has been trying to get their stuff worn by Kelly while she was on her visit. DJ Zinhle had fans involved in finding ways to get her jewellery to Kelly.
Since Kelly is such a mega international star, South African brands figured that she would market their brands very well abroad. Twitter said that the shoes turned out the way they did because Bathu tried to overdo it since Kelly is American.
Bathu is one of the most respected and established brands in the country. They have the most beautiful sneakers, and everyone aspires to wear Bathu. SA celebrities like Somizi Mhlongo love the shoes.
Kelly seems to be happy with all the gifts she received, including Bathu Shoes, so that is what is essential, right?
