Businesswoman and reality TV show star Shauwn Mkhize, popularly known as MaMkhize, has collaborated with other companies to build 20 houses for the poor. As much as this woman enjoys the finer things in life, Mamkhize has proven to understand the concept of giving back to those in need.
Mamkhize’s construction company
Shauwn used to work as an accountant but after giving birth to her son Andile. She wanted to create a legacy for him and a more comfortable future, and with hard work and persistence, she achieved it. Today, the star announced her construction company, Zikhulise Group, is celebrating 20 years since it opened its doors in 2001. For each of the years, the business has been operational. She’s giving away one house with electricity, furniture and sanitation to families in dire need. So far, ten new comfortable homes have been given away, and she’s still going to give away but the other 10.
Partners helping Mamkhize in the project
Each time the businesswoman gives away homes, she works with the Department of Correctional Services, and this year was no different. Partnering with the Department of Correctional Services is a two in one initiative that helps both the recipients of the homes and the convicts that help build the houses. The convicts get to participate in doing something more significant for the communities they’ve wronged. They also leave the prisons to build homes that serve them as a temporary change of scenery. My Spar also chipped in to provide groceries for the new home occupants, so they have something to eat to celebrate their new homes and the rest of their festive season. Sandile Zungu from AmaZulu FC contributed to making the home giveaways a success. She also partnered up with Ukhozi FM to spread the word about the initiative, one of the homes was given to an Ukhozi FM listener.
Giving back to the community is an excellent way for Shauwn to end her eventful 2021. She recently welcomed a new addition to her family, Tamia Louw, her son’s new wife. Her son also won a music award, she and her family graced the December issue of True Love magazine. In the same year, she was awarded an honorary doctorate.
