Fans were shocked to learn that Sandile Mfusi, better known as the despised Kwanda on Uzalo, had been nominated for two gospel awards. Phil Mphela, an entertainment analyst, dropped the bomb on many of his fans via Twitter.
According to one of his fans, he doesn’t seem like the type to even like gospel, much less sing it, which is why many of his fans are shocked by the news. However, the fact that he has been nominated for the 2022 Crown Gospel Music Awards has been revealed. For his song Ithemba, Sandile has received nominations for Best Newcomer and Best Gospel Video. Many of his fans were unaware that he also makes music and is pretty good at it. Just over a year ago, he released an album with the working title Masandi—his middle name—and is now reaping the rewards of his labour. Based on his on-screen personas, the actor appeared to Mzansi to be the type who enjoys ama piano or deep house music but never gospel; he always gets cast as a gangster. However, the actor proved to his fans that he is nothing like those personas in real life and is entirely different from them because he doesn’t value the same things they do and has another character.
One of his fans even went so far as to say that he seems like a humble guy and one of the few south African celebrities without any drama, so he deserves all the votes and support; maybe he might take these awards home because he is such a well-loved man. Many of his fans took the opportunity to congratulate him on this outstanding achievement and wished for him to be famous as a singer just as he is as an actor.
Sandile, better known as Masandi in the music industry, became famous after joining the hip-hop group Niche Fam. When he disbanded the group in 2013, he started his solo career and quickly rose to fame. Since then, he has collaborated with Big Nuz, Gemini Major, Aewon Wolf, and Captain Blu (all from Nigeria), and he has performed on stage alongside Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross.
The actor and rapper Sandile Mfusi, from South Africa, who portrays Kwanda on Uzalo, is a millionaire in real life. As a business administration graduate and owner of numerous depots throughout KwaZulu Natal, Kwanda is a formidable force in retailing LP gas. Retail sales of domestic and industrial gas and accessories bring in more money for Sandile than his trade. He is valued at R35.8 million in 2022 and makes an estimated R21,000 per month on Uzalo. Despite leading a life as an artist, Sandile never lost sight of his childhood dream of succeeding in business and amassing a fortune.
