The days for us to say our final goodbyes to Kuli Roberts are drawing nearer. The whole entertainment industry is still in disbelief, as some are still sharing fond memories of their friend and how she impacted their lives.
Kuli’s shockingly sudden death has hit differently for many of her fans as well. They still wake up hoping to receive some of her morning tweets, some funny, some educational but all entertaining.
According to the invitation to her Memorial service posted on Phil Mphela’s Twitter page, the first leg of goodbye will start today.
Both ceremonies will be live-streamed according to a post-Hlubi Mboya made yesterday. Her Funeral will take place on Thursday, 17 February 2022. The Memorial Service of Nomakula “Kuli” Roberts will take place on Wednesday, 16 February 2022, at Birchwood Hotel. People are requested to arrive at 10h00 for 10h30 and advised to send their RSVPs no later than 17h00 on 15 February 2022.
It’s not yet clear if these services would be televised or not.
The entertainment industry will be gearing up to attend this service in numbers. Kuli will be remembered for the many ways she contributed to the entertainment industry.
Let’s count those ways… Kuli was once an editor at Pace Magazine. She was a fashion and beauty editor at Drum Magazine and Fair Lady magazine.
Kuli once had a column called B*tch’s brew on Sunday World where she rubbed many people up the wrong way. Kuli was also once suspected to be the very controversial Shwashwi in SundayWold. The jury is still out on that one.
She also wrote an article that got her fired from one publication she used to work for. The article was called Jou ma se kinders, and the column received backlash for looking down on the coloured community. Kuli ended up admitting to the poorly written article.
Kuli also ventured into radio and even hosted the Real Goboza on SABC1. The woman was an entertainer in full.
This hits kuli’s family the hardest; she is Radio personality Thomas Msengana’s sister to actress Hlubi Mboya.
She is leaving behind her two children and grandchildren.
