Durban Gen actress Nelisiwe Sibiya leaves her fans blown away with her contemporary look.
Nelisiwe Sibiya all for culture
Nelisiwe is one of the few celebrities in South Africa who are always embracing culture. You can tell by how she carries herself that her background and upbringing mean everything to her. Her every move revolves around the Zulu clan and their customs, and she makes a point of sticking by them. Nelisiwe’s focus on embracing her culture inspires many young girls never to forget where they come from.
Even after she bought her car, which was over a million rands, she made a video of her going back home to show them her car. A few days later, she posted numerous videos of her wearing “isphandla”, an “African bracelet” meant to bring more luck and protection into your life. She even openly spoke about how she had to partake in rituals left, right, and centre before putting on her sphandla. Nelisiwe also openly revealed that she would be showing it everywhere she goes because she takes that much pride in her being and where she comes from, and she will never look down on it.
How Nelisiswe rose to fame
Nelisiwe became famous through her singing. Her hit song “mama KaBafana”, which was about gender-based violence, was undoubtedly a hit and caused her to gain much recognition in the industry. She did not know that it wasn’t going to only open doors for her in the music industry but the acting industry. Her song was used as a backtrack in one of Mzansi’s most-watched Monday drama’s, the famous Lockdown. Shortly after that, she was asked to act on the show, and she nailed her role.
She is currently on Durban Gen as Dr Mbali Mthethwa, a young lady who moved to Durban to look for a job only to find out that they live a completely different life than what she had in mind. She came from a small village and learned how to make it in the big city alone.
Nelisiwe recently wowed her fans with a video of her wearing a gorgeous gown.
