Lerato Nxumalo, better known as Dr Luthuli from Durban Gen, boasted to her followers on social media that she has never been pregnant and has no kids. Her video sparked debate because there has recently been a lot of commotion online about how people without children believe they are superior to people with children.
While some people thought there was nothing to this video, others did not take it lying down as they came for the Lingashoni actress, many claiming that just because she does not have a child, it does not mean she is more successful than those who do. On Tik Tok, she mocks those who fell pregnant these past few years and complains that many influencers and young people like herself fell pregnant, and she is seen praising herself for missing the pregnancy wave.
Lerato was heard praising herself for being a good girl and making it seem like those with children are not good girls; she even referred to herself as a virgin, which seems to have offended more of her fans. Many people felt Lerato was being insensitive by laughing that way when many women her age had become pregnant due to sexual abuse. One viewer said she should probably just shut up since she doesn’t know why some of her age mates became pregnant, and she can’t be bragging about never having children as if she is receiving a grant for it.
Recently Lerato purchased clothing on Shein for R21 000. People came after her, accusing her of being a selfish brat who didn’t care about the young children being abused overseas to make these clothes. Many were disgusted by her actions, but she came out and clapped back, saying they couldn’t tell her how to spend her money.
Lerato Nxumalo, who played Dr Luthuli in the medical drama series, joined the cast of Lingashoni as Mpumi after leaving it. Mpumi is married to Donald, the risky police minister Robert’s son. She is the only daughter and the first child of Mandla Cele, a businessman who lived through his wife’s attempt to murder him. She is currently having many issues with her mother-in-law, who thinks she stole her job.
Her role is recurring in this drama series, and thanks to the experience she has gained, she is paid a little bit more than in her previous position. Because of the characteristics of their roles or the particular actor’s experience, actors in the industry are compensated. For this reason, it is said that Lingashoni is paying the actress between R50 000 and R60 000.
