The Diep City cast has joined the likes of telenovela Gonora in taking on the Nkao Tempela challenge.
Diep City is a Mzansi hit series that airs on Mzansi Magic at 20:30. The show came about when the channel needed a replacement for Isibaya, which had to be removed. It was not doing well anymore and wasn’t making enough money as viewership drastically fell.
Viewers quickly came to forget about Isibaya because of Diep City. The show was indeed a good and better replacement. Diep City is a show about four young women who are trying to make it in life. They live in poor townships, but they want to live better lives and take their families to better cities. They would do anything to get a better life, even if it meant resorting to crime.
One unlucky night, it was business as usual for them. They were going to rob a house in the suburbs in the hope of stealing expensive goods. One of the women’s brothers sneaked along to the crime scene though he wasn’t supposed to be there. Unfortunately, he lost his life, and it is how the story began.
The cast has stolen Mzansi’s hearts, but one person who has cemented herself onto people’s minds and hearts are Nox, whose real name is Nozuko Ncayiyane. She has always been around in the industry but was never given a chance to prove her true potential and what she could bring to the entertainment industry. She got roles on Skeem Saam and Scandal, but the roles didn’t move viewers; she was just not recognized and appreciated as much as she is now. Diep City was indeed a breakthrough for her and one that she certainly needed and deserved.
Nompumelo and Kgaogelo decided to represent the cast of Diep City and join in on the viral Nkao Tempela challenge; they gave it their all and killed it!
