Zimbabwe Republic Police officers were brutally assaulted by civilians in a video circulating online.
Two members of the ZRP are seen fighting with the men as a mob was watching and cheering their colleagues.
The police officers in uniform are also seen fighting back as they are cornered in drainage.
The location of the incident is yet to be identified.
In the video, a man is seen holding a ZRP officer ina drainage while another jumps to trade blows with the law enforcement officer.
As another officer tried to rescue his colleague, he is quickly retrained by another civilian and a brawl begins before the officer is pinned down in the gully.
The video appears to be a recent one as people wearing masks are seen at the fight.

Meanwhile, the police advised the public that they have seized dangerous drugs from two suspects.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Luckson Munhukwaye (43) and Phyllis Mufandaedza (36) in connection with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs on 03 February 2021 at Masekesa Growth Point in Chiredzi.
Police received information to the effect that the suspects were unlawfully dealing in dagga at a certain house at Masekesa Growth Point. Detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics reacted to the information and made a follow up along Ngundu-Tanganda Road where they came across the suspects’ Toyota Noah Voxy motor vehicle, Registration number ADP 9420 carrying suspicious sacks. They pursued the vehicle and managed to apprehend the occupants.
A search was conducted and 80 plastic packets of loose dagga weighing 146,2 kilograms were recovered. The estimated street value is yet to be ascertained.
The Police will ensure that drug peddlers are arrested and taken to court for justice to prevail.
