Presenter Lawrence Maleka announced that the SABC1 dating show is making a return on the Mzansi screens. Too Hot to be Single premiered in the year 2021 on SABC 1. On the show, many hopeful singles came on how to search for love. Before an episode, the show finds six singles compatible with one single and the six contestants compete for the one constant.
As they are competing, they play various challenges against one another. On each challenge, one player gets eliminated. The twist is that the person who got eliminated has zero chances of being with the single they are competing for.
The last contestant standing gets to be with the single, and they try building a romantic relationship. The eliminated hopevilles will have to go back and try going back to the dating field.
The game of dating is dubbed an extreme sport in Mzansi. Mainly because most people aren’t loyal; hence the show ranked so high with viewership. There is also a large pool of people in Mzansi who want to have serious relationships but are failing dismally.
Many Too Hot to Be Single viewers went crazy on Twitter after several episodes. The reason was that they noticed the contestants were attractive but lacked aspects that create a good partner. What excites viewers is the energy of the show and how people can learn valuable love lessons when the lines blur.
Lawrence returns
In season 1 of the show, Lawrence Maleka did a stellar job as the show’s host. He did a job so well that he returned to host season 2 of the show. Since he is hosting a dating show, he refers to himself as the Love Cupid and can’t wait to bring the dating thrills to the screens. Too Hot to be Single premiers on the 18th of August at 21:00.
Seeing that he did remarkably well on season one, he bagged himself a South African Film and Television Award nomination for his presenting skills on the dating show. He has proved to be one of the best presenters of Mzansi as he also left quite the impression on the show Big Brother Mzansi. SABC 1 is currently on a bid to secure him as many votes as they can for the SAFTA.
