The match between the under 21 teams of Royal AM and Stellenbosch was packed with action and drama. Royal AM chairman and footballer Andile Mpisane made his debut for the season today and showed some smooth skills.
Andile was named on the bench as his team faced a well oiled Cape Town-based side. His coach John Maduka was reserving him for the last moments of the match.
Donning the red and gold away jersey, the bulky musician-cum footballer wowed the crowd with silky moves. He entered the pitch with his team leading towards the end of the match.
“Number 10, the chairman of Royal AM. Come on, chairman,” a man was heard shouting in the stands as Andile entered the pitch.
His touches on the ball were followed by “Yes chairman” shouts from the stands.
The 20-year old received balls in the middle of the pitch and always looked to attack. He showboated with his first touch of the ball, attracting cheers from the crowd. The It’s Too Much Sauce singer made a few stepovers before appearing to pull off his jersey.
It’s not the first time that Andile has played for his team. The musician appeared during a match against Sekhukhune United in the GladAfrcia championship last year as his team was winning 3-1. He attempted the same skills as today, but he got it wrong.
Andile fell in love with football early and has tried to become a professional with no success. He once played for his family’s former team Royal Eagles, before losing it to his father following his divorce with MaMkhize.
The travelling party
The Royal AM management travelling team comprises club chairman Shauwn Mkhize, brand ambassador Tha Simelane, Andile, wife Tamia and board member Nozipho Ngubo. The group has been enjoying themselves in Cape Town, and it appears the primary reason for their travelling was to watch Andile make his debut for the season.
Shauwn Mkhize and her management team celebrated after the Royal AM development side won 2-1 away.
