Mxolisi Njingeni Majozi, popularly known as Zulu Boy, was rapping along to the Skwatta Camp song called Umoya. He remembers the lyrics of the late 2000s Mzansi rap hit song. As he was rapping, we couldn’t help but notice the Royal AM gear he was wearing. Typically people support one of the three most prominent soccer teams like Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
Zulu Boy became famous in Mzansi for his music. Before the Durban Gen actor became an actor, he used to be a rapper. There are award-winning tracks in his catalogue that used to get Mzansi going crazy. His Zulu lyrics and flow used to speak to people’s souls. One of his biggest hits is the songs Nomalanga and Zulu Uyasabeka.
Skwatta Camp’s importance in Mzansi Rap
Skwatta Camp was one of the biggest perpetrators of hip hop culture in the country. All those group members brought in their flair and style. Zulu Boy was a prominent artist during their reign.
Durban Gen
On Durban Gen, he plays the infamous MacGyver. His character is a paramedic who has an eye for the ladies. His true passion, however, is in the music industry. At some point, he was incredibly passionate about being a DJ. He even got into a dispute with L’vovo Derrango due to his obsession. He was faking an American accent most recently, appearing like the international rapper Rick Ross.
Zulu Boy’s acting career
South Africa didn’t expect him to venture into acting. Most rappers go into music production after they retire from making music. Some even go into opening their record labels. The Nomalanga hitmaker first appeared on the human drama show InterseXions on SABC 1. He played a player from Durban city.
He acted on Uzalo as the sidekick to the notorious gangster Amos. Amos’s character switched actors, but Zulu Boy stayed. After Uzalo, he appeared on the eTV medical drama, Durban Gen.
Quite frankly, Mxolisi is an outstanding actor. He can portray different characters. He can go from acting like a distant person to a criminal. He can also go from criminal to a normal public servant with dreams ringing in his head.
